(...) provide additional services and support to members with specialized interests.
SIGs are initiated by members to provide a forum for information exchange and a vehicle to promote a particular area of interest, such as Direct Instruction or Organizational Behavior Management.
I am a member of a few and follow more closely, mainly through the newsletters, two of them:
Autism and Related Developmental Disabilities and Parent-Professional Partnership.
Autism SIG's purposes are:
1) To promote behavior analytic research and the exchange of scientific information in the area of autism treatment; 2) To advocate for and promote high standards in the application of behavior analytic treatments; and 3) To support consumers of ABA services.
Parent-Professional SIG's objectives are:
1) Helping parents of newly diagnosed children, as well as parents whose children are already involved in applied behavior analytic (ABA) services, become more familiar with ABA through the information, resources, and links of our website.
2) Helping parents benefit more significantly from the annual ABAI Convention as well as other Autism-focused conferences.
I recommend to anyone interest that they join to help with and benefit from the work that they do and the relevant, fresh, and always interesting information they provide.
