A Yale Psychologist Calls for the End of Individual Psychotherapy – TIME Healthland

Worrying about the risk that evidence-based already does not have the function we, evidence-based advocates, professionals, researchers, plan for it...let's continue defining it and moving on!

Here Alan Kazdin talks about the lack of availability of evidence-based treatments for mental health issues in the United States. The short interview is here, and I selected this section to post because it is at the forefront of my day to day recently, although for me, specifically for services for people with autism and their families.

Question: So, who's going to help people find treatment? A general practitioner?
Kazdin:
It's unrealistic to ask GPs to do it. It might be handled by professional authorities, or government could help people find the appropriate consortium of [online] services. You could have some sort of decision tree. Right now, we're missing most people who need care. There could be an app for this...
In countries where we can even discuss this, we should discuss this. And pay attention to the discourse of the politicians we can and should not elect.
